I loved it but I find River a bit too smug, I feel every time I see her I want to give her a shake. It was great though and it takes me back to the old doctors when the storylines took 4 or 5 episodes to complete.
I go all the way back to the first episode and the first storyline set in the Stone Age and then onto the Daleks. They really did scare me and they've never lost the ability to scare me.
Yes it was great growing up with it,it's like Star Trek in that the sets and the aliens could look rubbish but the storylines and the characters were so good you forgave them everything. Special effects are great but no good if you don't have a good storyline to go with it.
Also I love how much the show is just imbedded in the culture - it's part of the whole country's history, an ever-evolving story that everyone shares. We own the Doctor, y'know? And that's very powerful. (Like in The Eleventh Hour - everyone goes 'Oh it's the Raggedy Doctor' - it's the most wonderful in-show commentary!)
Speaking of Old Who, is it just me, or was this episode very reminiscent of "The Tomb Of The Cybermen"? Dunno, but I *do* know that Matt loves that ep! :)
