Darcy had the day off yesterday, and since m-i-l offered to pick up children from school we went to Leeds for the day. Did some very leisurely shopping, had a lovely dinner at Cafe Rouge , and then went to see 'A Christmas Carol' (in 3D, natch). Unspoilery thoughts: Dickens would have LOVED it!
- Overall liked it very much indeed. Very impressed with how close they stuck to the book - even sticking with the language, which I'd half-expected to be updated. Yes some of my favourite bits had been cut, but I can see why they chose to focus on the main story.
- Colin Firth was *utterly* spot-on as the nephew! V. impressed.
- Also loved Christmas Present, who was just right.
- Oh and I was (pleasantly) surprised that the film was *more* Christian than the book (not that it takes much *g*).
- The cinematography was *gorgeous* - it was nice to see the use of 3D properly utilised.
Anyway, I must run. Although I feel compelled to tell you to go fill out
