First of all, please do admire this gorgeous new icon.

It came about because Brian Lynch (writer of the Spike comic books and 'Angel: After the Fall') is getting married, and Chris Ryall (Publisher/Editor-in-Chief IDW Publishing) got him *the* most amazing present! (Spoilers for the various comics I guess, but...) Then stormwreath manipped the icon (there ( Read more... )

That reminds me; I've never seen any Buffyverse Spikebot fic. I'm surprised. They've done everything else to the poor guy, and he is canonically at least 1% cyborg with that chip...

Well Nimue over at BAPS has a SpikeBot whose comments are added onto her reviews. Not quite fic, but... At least in the 'Destiny' review, can't remember about the rest.

A female SpikeBot is made of so much win that I don't know where to start! I wondered why that was on the list, to be honest...

Personally, I think it's this sentence: "Spike, you're a robot, but why are you such a drop-dead gorgeous robot? I mean, is it necessary to be the most sophisticated machine ever built and to look like a movie star?" It reads like the worst Mary Sue fic ever. It's not a bad idea and I'm really looking forward to reading that book (though I'll probably get to some other Winterson books before that), but some of the sentences in that scene are just... clunky. Of course, the Bad Sex Award was founded by a pretty conservative critic who wasn't just against bad sex scenes but against sex scenes period, so...

(Winterson is something of a slasher, incidentally; her "Weight" is basically ALL Atlas/Hercules subtext.)
