A few actual thoughts on Infinity War

First of all - I hope my previous post didn't create the impression that I didn't like the film! It was just a bit like sitting through a whole season of TV, crammed into 2 1/2 hours... No space to breathe.

Get ready for the longest non-DW related comment in the history of our friendship.

You really should watch Ragnarok (which I personally call "Thor of the Galaxy" because in style and story it owes far more to GOTG than the other Thor films), it is good fun! You get some really good Bruce/Thor scenes and the Thor/Loki relationship actually moves forward. On a personal note, Doctor Strange's cameo is one of my favourite scenes in the entire movie.

Doctor Strange effortlessly takes apart Thanos's plan to 'save' the universe

The greatest breakdown of this scene everPeter dissolving in Tony's arms is EVEN MORE heartbreaking when you know that Tony is the reason Peter is involved in Avengers stuff in the first place (he semi-coerced Peter into fighting for him in Civil War) and so what's running through Tony's head is that this kid is now wiped out of existence because of him. (It's more complicated than that but that's how Tony would see it ( ... )

Yay, thoughts! :D :D :D

I know. I have heard many good things. The reason I watched Infinity War is quite simply because one of Darcy's friends came to stay and brought the DVD.

Thank you! Also I like Dr Strange's Think-y face. :) But yeah, stupidest 'plan' ever.

The greatest breakdown of this scene ever
!!!! omg That is amazing. (I am 100% on Tony's side.)

Somehow I kinda got all that? Like, they way they played it, I knew there had to be a lot of background. ♥ ♥ ♥

Bucky dissolving right in front of Steve was a kick in the stomach for me as well.
"Steve!" *DIES* Poor guys, they deserved a happy ending.

Ah yes. If you'd seen Angel (I don't think you have), I would liken him to Angel (esp wrt Groo). And other things I am now blanking on. Ah Peter Quill. Had you survived, you might one day have grown up and overcome your insecurities.

I have seen some of Angel so I know what you mean! :D Little Peter's "that's total bullshit, Thor is clearly a stunner" look will forever amuse me. And most of the MCU fandom is pretty sure that those who were 'dusted' will be back because they got rid of all the newbies who just started their franchises. :P

To go from Doylist to Watsonian reasoning, Kevin Feige may claim everyone who was 'dusted' is totally absolutely positively gone and not coming back, but Strange is the master of the Time Stone, we specifically see him go through tons of scenarios in how the fight with Thanos turns out and his last words before vanishing are "I'm sorry, Tony, it was the only way." (emphasis mine) As veterans of Moffat's Who, we KNOW it's not over when time travel comes into play. Sure, Feige, they're 'really gone ( ... )

Excellent! :)

Little Peter is a gem. As is his quip about... Footloose? <3

Yeah, like HALF of them bit the dust... Including Black Panther (although my main thought was 'Oh, then Shuri can be the new Black Panther!).

but Strange is the master of the Time Stone, we specifically see him go through tons of scenarios in how the fight with Thanos turns out and his last words before vanishing are "I'm sorry, Tony, it was the only way." (emphasis mine)
Yes I noticed that! Which also excused him seemingly giving in because Tony got tortured, which seemed... odd, considering that they'd just met and Dr Strange didn't seem like the kinda guy to buckle under pressure. So yeah, SHENANIGANS.

It is, but does this mean that Groot's name ( ... )

That would have been cool except she was dusted too. ._.

I still think that Tony's silent grief is infinitely more painful than all the screaming.

The screaming post amused me because the characters go through so much physical and mental pain in this movie, it's almost overkill.

I can't remember who 'died'

ALL of the Guardians are gone except Rocket.

She was? Well, it'll DEFINITELY be reversed. (Also see the Honest Trailer *g*)

Ah. Long week, brain not working. But then everything about this was Extra.

ALL of the Guardians are gone except Rocket.
... I don't much care. Tried to watch their first movie, but found it annoying and dull. Which is probably on me, cause everyone else loves them.

The first movie is a romp but it's pretty generic. A lot of us think the second is better. Deconstructs toxic masculinity, Nebula and Yondu get more story time, the Nebula/Gamora relationship is also given focus.

Yeah, I have heard good things about the second one. And I was quite excited to watch Amy Pond being blue and bald (when trying to watch the 1st one), but not even that helped. :( But never say never! I may yet grow to love them all.

Also, the Honest Trailer called Peter Quill 'Dumb Beau' and I am still laughing. :D

ETA: See Ant Man is (in many ways) ridiculously generic, and yet Paul Rudd's charm just sweeps everything away and then it gets fabulous. Maybe it's just that Peter Quill annoyed me from the start, rather than charm.

Well, she doesn't really have much to do in the first film, sadly. She gets more focus in the second.

*ROFL* They ain't wrong. XD

Oh, I totally agree. Without Paul Rudd's immense charm, that film would fall flat. But then I have a friend who couldn't really stand the first Ant Man film and ended up loving the second.

Maybe it's just that Peter Quill annoyed me from the start, rather than charm.

Probably. If you don't sympathise with him, it would be kind of hard to get through the film.

Yes, I've heard that the second does a lot more.

I think that was my favourite moniker out of all of them. :D

I haven't seen the 2nd one, so can't comment, although I can't accept anyone not loving the fight scene on the train tracks. That is just absolute gold! (Not surprising considering the writer though.)

The first scene where we see adult Peter (hung over, not remembering the name of the girl he'd shacked up with for the night) my whole brain just went NOPE. I had seen that stereotype so many times before I refused to engage. :(

Oh yes, poor Bureet. I'm convinced she picked up Yondu's call just to get back at Peter because he really obviously did not want to answer it. Hey, at least she survived to find someone much more mature! She got out relatively unscathed!

She does admit the train fight is good. The second Ant Man film has a lot more about family dynamics.

I love Strange's very visible *deep sigh*, this is how you make fun of Thor not being from Earth

I am amazed all these characters have names and stories. You go girls! I am considerably more pleased with the writers now. :)

Oh good.

That sounds a good thing. I shall check it out when it comes my way! :)

Apparently her name is spelled Bereet, my bad. Anyway, she reappears briefly later in the film when Ronan attacks and she's seen carrying a small child to safety. So I like to think she survived and ended up with someone much better. :)

More Cassie, more Hope/Hank interaction, lashings of Paul Rudd charm.

I need to watch Ragnarok...

I think its sense of humour would definitely appeal to you.

From what I have seen? Yes, definitely. :)
