Once I have finished my WIP (and the other thing I am writing) and have time (ha!) I think I shall try to have a stab at getting more familiar with women artists.

National Gallery buys Artemisia Gentileschi masterpiece for £3.6m
The 17th-century painter’s self-portrait, which alludes to her rape trial, is only the 20th work by a woman to enter a collection of more than 2,300 European paintings

It is easy to forget how all-pervasive the [straight, white] Male Gaze is in art, and how refreshing it is to see something different.

And in the same vein, a photograph by a female photographer, looking *at* the Male Gaze:
