I know I have been MIA here. But I read your posts every day and I miss you! I have a health scare story I wanted to share with you so you will be on the lookout for yourselves. I went on the pill just over four months ago because I had a big vacation planned with Paul and didn't want to have my period, my periods have been coming every three weeks and have been hard to predict. I was also hoping a few months on the pill might get me regular. So at the end of the fourth month, we went away and when I came home I went off of it and got my period on schedule and now will not be refilling. I would stay on and do the thing where you only get your period every 4 months but with my mom's cancer I don't think it's wise. I also have varicose veins in one leg that have been bothering me more since I am loosing weight and feel like showing off my legs a bit, so I have been using self tanner and cover up but they are yucky. I also realized recently that I haven't had a proper physical in years so I found a new dr and intended to call yesterday, after the holiday weekend to schedule that.
Four days ago I woke up with a pain in my calf, as if I had had a terrible calf cramp in the night and was just sore. But instead of getting better, the next day it was a little worse. Then yesterday it was pretty bad, my veins in that leg are always warm to the touch but one was kind of popped out around my ankle that I don't remember noticing before. Paul thought I was over reacting, and I was very worried that he was right and I would be embarrassed, but I drive myself to the ER and yes, my know you have guessed it I'm sure... DVT.
Had a lovenox injection and haves dose of oral Coumadin and I will take it again today and tomorrow I see my new doctor who kindly consulted with the ER doc even though she hasn't even met me yet when I explained that I had intended to see her soon.
Scary stuff.
