This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween...

Oct 31, 2007 15:30

It was just after sunset, on October 31, 1996, the night the Gargoyles of Manhattan had been looking forward to for some time.  It was the one of the few nights of the year where they could interact with humans without having to worry about their reactions.  So long as they exercised a certain amount of caution with regards to their wings and tails ( Read more... )

"Awww I have no one here that will be surprised by me." Jubilee gave a playful pout.

"Oh well!" She gives a grin to Elisa and Angela, then poor Puck will find a Jubes has taken ownership of his arm. "To the ball!"

The fey blinked it surprise, then shrugged. Out of deference to the holiday, and perhaps to his meta-sense of humor, he added a Mickey-Mouse eared hat to his usual ensemble. "'twould be my pleasure, to escort the lady fair," he said. "To the ball!"

Which was just beginning to get underway in the Great Hall and the courtyards of the castle, with only a few guests in attendance so far.

There was Goliath, in his Arthurian costume, Lex in pilot gear. Brooklyn and Katana were Han Solo and Princess Leia, respectively. And Broadway was, naturally, Aladdin. Albeit Gargoyle versions there of, of course.

"Well," Angela said, "how do I look?"

Dropped jaws made for such an interesting response.

Jubilee didn't say much, she just stayed at Puck's side for the moment. Respecting Angela's moment in the spotlight.

With no jaw dropped more than Broadway's. "An... Angela?"

"What?" she asked, innocently, "is there something wrong with my costume?"

"No... It looks fine, but you... I... you..."

She went over to him and planted a kiss on his lips. "It is just for tonight. A little trade between Jubilee and myself."

"Gotta admit," Lex said. "You look good." It was more addressed to Jubilee, so he hastily amended with, "Bot of you."

Was there a blush on Jubilee's face, maybe. "Thanks Lex."

"Though I am still trying to figure out this tail and wing things."

And maybe just a bit of a blush on Lex's face too.

Elisa chuckled at that. "Been there, done that. No t-shirt, though."

"I got to thank my lucky stars that my under garments were so flexible, otherwise I would have been.." Jubilee stops, glancing at Lex again and blushes.

"Yah and we don't need that."

"So there is trick and treating plans?"

Even deeper blushing on Lex's part!

"Ah, yeah," Broadway said, still perhaps just a little perplexed by everything. "Me and Lex and Angela were gonna hit downtown. Buncha the stores are doing Halloween give-aways and stuff."

"You should come along," Angela said.

"Oh could I?" Jubilee was excited by the prospect. "That would be great!"

"I thought you might like that," Angela said.

"You will be careful, of course," Goliath said. "From what Elisa has said, there is much mischief about this night."

Elisa slapped him playfully on the arm. "They'll be fine, Big Guy. Broadway and Lex can handle anything that comes up. And I wouldn't count Jubes or Angela out of anything either."

He seemed satisfied by this. "Then by all means, go and have... fun."

"How are we getting there?" Jubilee sort of felt weird with her wings, unsure if she could fly.

Lex, Broadway, and Angela exchanged a look. After a moment, Angela went, "Oh. We had planned to glide most of the way..."

Elisa put a hand to her forehead, trying to figure out whether to laugh or be faintly motherly. "And this, children, is why we plan ahead."

"Well," Broadway said, "I can carry Angela..."

"And those wings gotta work," Lex said.

"I sort of never had wings before, how do they work?" Jubilee frowned with confusion.

"Well this guy," Elisa said, nudging Goliath in the stomach, "decided the best way was to jump off a building with me. The self-preservation instinct kinda took over."

Goliath gave her a stern look. "It was not quite that simple..."

"I know, I know, I'm giving you a hard time, Big Guy."

"I'd say you should give it a try," Puck chimed in, finally sharing his own opinion. "The way the spell works, you should do okay. ...I think."
