I finished reading Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk and.. It was just too good.. It's got an American Psycho flavor to it, not to mention it seems heavily influenced by the "Celebritarianism" movement (not sure which came first, though.) It wasn't all that big.. but.. 200-some odd pages isn't a small amount, either.. Still, it's taken me months to finish a book of that length before (*often looses motivation*). This however was truly easy to breeze through, and it was refreshing after I had to read "Reading Lolita in Tehran" which took me several months.. ;;; ... I think.. I think I'm going to read Glamorama next ^__^.. *now hungry for some Bret Easton Ellis*.
I saw Coraline a few days ago, and upon seeing it.. I can't really see why I'd been hearing such bad things about it.. It's a lovely fairytale (and yes, it does count as a fairy tale) with charming characters and a modern asthetic.Still I thought the 3-D sections were a little phoned-in.. I will never accept 3-D in films.. It's just.. not all that interesting to me. It doesn't really "enhance my experience". It just makes me roll my eyes a lot. Still, it was worth those occassionally grating moments.
Why is it that Batman has gotten so awesome lately? Superhero popularity is struggling but.. If only other superheroes could do it like Batman ^___^. I loved The Dark Knight.. It was a fantastic movie (mostly because of Heath Ledger's lovably psychotic Joker) and now Batman: Arkham Asylum has made me fall for the awesomeness that is Batman. Here I was hoping the Dark Knight was a fluke so I wouldn't get sucked into the empty and dollar-sucking hole that is superhero fandom.. but it's too late.. and Arkham Asylum is just too awesome... The villains are all amazing. The Joker is just as fun as always, Harley Quinn is an amazing peice of work, and Poison Ivy has unintentionally funny moments.. Even Batman is cool... What the hell!? HOW CAN I DISLIKE YOU!? .. There.. I've given up.. I can't dislike it.. ever
O_____o... No words can describe how utterly awesome this arc is.. I wasn't expecting it after the relatively light-hearted "Indian" arc... It was total mind-explosion goodness.. which I haven't experienced in a long time.. God, Kuroshitsuji is endlessly entertaining ^___^.
