Title: The First Time
Rating: R
A/N: A quick update before the holiday weekend! I realize it's very short, but since this one may make me persona non grata around here, maybe I was thinking ahead, so I can quickly post it and then run like the wind. I just want you all to remember the love, and the fact that we're all non-violent people. :) Have a great long weekend, everyone! I'm off w/ the fam for some relaxing by the lake (and possibly to hide) - can't wait!

The first time she sees Marta, it’s at the end of a briefing on a new case. They’re right in the middle of all the shit with the cannibal and Satan, but there are other cases as well calling the precinct’s attention, and Don Lorenzo asked her to sit in on some of them and give her opinion. She knows he’s just trying to keep her mind off things, but she plays along.
Pepa’s gathering her notes, and she drops her pen. She turns to grab it and glances toward the back of the room.
All the newbies are back there, brand new officers fresh from the academy, and a few of the newer transfers, not yet having established themselves with their peers.
There are a few guys who quickly look away when she glances up, embarrassed to be caught staring. Pepa grins wickedly, because it always amuses her, how unsubtle they are.
She’s about to turn away when she sees one person who is still staring, who does, in fact, return her gaze with a steady, level look.
It’s a small brunette, one of the new transfers, Pepa thinks, with long hair and dark eyes that seem to hold a challenge. She does not look away when Pepa catches her eye. In fact, she offers Pepa a smile.
Pepa can’t help but smile back.
Hmmm…she thinks idly, turning around when Rita calls to her to hurry up. Cute.
