One of my most cherished treasure is the Chariots of Fire soundtrack by Vangelis. I also planned to go and visit the beach in St Andrew, Scotland, where the famous free run with all the characters of the movie is set. It's not a gay- ( Read more... )

What a lovely list! Especially having my favourite Shekespeare of all time - I've been to see Twelfth Night (with different casts!) twice in the last 6 months alone. Alan Bennett cannot be surpassed IMO for his perceptive, humane wit, and I've read every Agatha Christe ever written, which must be a huge number of characters created. And we all know how I rave about Regeneration LOL.

Perhaps we were separated at birth LMAO. Though I'm not sure she'd want me and my chaotic life in the family :).

And there was me going to say the same thing to you. If the Cochranes and the Londons ever met up the entrie South of England might explode.

Love your taste in books and plays, though.

What a wonderful list. There are many books there that I haven't read for a while. I remember the first time I read Maurice - I was stunned by how beautiful it was.

Thank you for reminding me of some of these gems :D

Maurice is in my Top 10 too, and it was one of the first book I bought with my own money (I was very little) and probably the first gay themed novel I read. So also I thank you Charlie to put it in the list ;-) Elisa

You are welcome and I really love the "prom and proper" paired with "sweet naughty" feeling of the list. Elisa

I absolutely love Maurice. Have you also seen the Merchant/Ivory film adaptation with it starring James Wilby and Hugh Grant? It's utterly beautiful. I've also included Regeneration and the other books of the series on my amazon wishlist. Dying to read those. :-) I also love that Whistling in the Dark got face time. I adore that one. As for Twelfth Night- I have it, I just need to get around to reading it and all the other Shakespeares I have. ^__^

I'm sure Elisa's seen it, but I never have!

The Regeneration trilogy is harrowing, but worth the read.

It's so good- you need to see it! It's when Hugh Grant was actually cool (pre-1994) and did movies of integrity.

I love harrowing, believe it or not. ;-) I thrive on angst.

If you were asking to me about the movie Maurice, not only I saw it, I have also the videotape, and this is a proof that it's VERY old, it's not a DVD ;-) Elisa
