"Holding the Reins", "Bruised", "Back in the Saddle" & "Horsing Around" (all of them other than Holding the Reins are also available in Rough Cut; Horsing Around appeared online at Ruthie's Club and Fishnet): the short stories together made a pretty long, and so very satisfying, story. Marcus is a man who has loved and lost. He is still mourning but maybe he is ready to be back in the saddle. David is a vet student who helps Marcus in his horse farm during summer. He is young and innocent and so tempting. He sees and wants Marcus and with his joy of life he forces Marcus to live again, to want again, and to want David. David is young, and new to real and serious love-relationship, something more than only sex, plus Marcus is his first man, before him David has never thought possible to love a man. Family and future seem too big handicaps in their ride to life. The new addiction to the series, Holding the Reins, gave a little insight on Marcus and his lost lover Philip. It’s basically a remembrance of the past, and it adds a bit of sadness to the whole, but at the same time deepness to the story since the reader can understand how difficult it’s for Marcus to give another chance at love.

Tropical Daze (also available in Rough Cut and appeared in Best Gay Love Stories, 2006): the short story is part of a series about Steven and Conrad. Steven is a undercover cop, he is searching proofs of a drugs dealing during rave parties. Conrad is the man who organizes the raves. It should be a simple mission, not very dangerous; they are dealing mostly with young kids, college animals... But Steven cares too much, and he falls in love with Conrad. Conrad is a half Spanish half Cuban guy, sexy and smooth talking; he lures Steven inside his world and in his bed. Steven is new to all of this, he can't even imagine to fall in love with a man, but here he is and in love. And Conrad? Is it only sex? And then there is the little problem that Steven should do his work and his work probably will lead Conrad in prison.

Horse Sense (also appeared in Truckers): sets in the same world of Marcus and David, Horse Sense is a naughty romp in the hay. Robert sees Sean wondering around town, looking lost and needing, and when he finds him in his stables, he has no heart to throw him out; and if from the meeting something else can derive, well, it’s a good and nice development. The only problem is that Robert has to not care too much, Sean is young and homeless, not exactly the right material for a long-term relationship.
