Peter and Murray Corren are LGBT-rights activists from Vancouver, British Columbia whose complaint before British Columbia's Human Rights Tribunal led to an agreement whereby the provincial Ministry of Education would consult them on how gays are presented in the school curriculum. In 1971 Murray Warren, a Canadian graduate student doing research in Britain, walked into a closeted gay bar in London called the Arts and Battledress Club, and saw a man who, he later recalled, had "the most incredible blue eyes I'd ever seen." Warren moved in with that man, Peter Cook, four days later, and the couple remained together for 38 years. Warren married Cook in their False Creek garden in 2004. The couple combined their surnames and jointly adopted the name Corren prior to their nuptials. They successfully lobbied the provincial government to change the adoption regulations in 1993, to allow same-sex partners to adopt jointly. Several years later, they adopted a 21-year-old son, Brent, whom they had raised as foster parents for four years.
