Wolf Moon by Ethan Stone

I had mixed feedback from myself about this novel, in the end I was not really sure if I had just read a cute college romance or a dark gothic paranormal romance.

For most of the novel, Jack and Derek are just two young gay guys meeting in College and having just fun; sure they feel strong for each since the beginning, and they decide to be serious about their relationship very quick, but in the end, they are really young, and all their actions are more of boys than men. Plus Derek is very well-off and this allows them a freedom other guys same age cannot afford. One thing I liked of them, and that made me smile, is that both Jack than Derek are actually “easy”, you can say it doesn’t take much for them to jump in bed. Truth be told, the night Jack meets Derek, he is in a self-imposed abstinence rule: don’t have sex at first date… but after that everything is allowed… not really a strict rule ;-)

So yes, I was quite enjoying my college tale, and the way these guys were able to appreciate their young age without being careless, but then the story moved to a more dark mood: both Derek than Jack are werewolves, and Jack has an important role in pack politics, even if he doesn’t want to acknowledge his heritage. If I have to be 100% sincere, I preferred the first part of the story, I’m more for the comedy/romance than the paranormal/romance, but I can tell that the young boys of the first part of the novel were also in the young werewolves whose fate was to change an old structure; again the young blood was needed to allow the pack to go on.
