That's the damn truth. So much "ministry" seems to be forced on people who don't really want it or need it. Do we have more wisdom to share because we're richer? Not that moving to Norwood to make a difference is a bad thing. I'm not critical of that desire. I'm just critical of Rich Little White girls going into housing projects thinking they're equipped to make a difference because they're Rich Little White girls. (That doesn't mean you, Liz.)
I'm not sure about your assertion that life is Darwinian. Sometimes, life is just luck (or biased Providence, whatever.) I was born into an upper-middle class white family in the white suburbs, private school, college education that Daddy paid for. That means I missed some of the struggle that a black woman born into the projects faces. (Obviously.) I was BORN ahead. From the minute my little cracker feet hit the ground I was ahead. I didn't earn that or deserve it. (But I'm not sorry about it to be sure!)
