No major revelations.
No, really, nada. I've simply not been eating meat.
Eating out hasn't been really difficult. Fast food has been pretty much nixed from my diet, which is no crying shame. Veggie sandwiches and wraps are very tasty. Beyond Bread has several delicious options. I did go out to fondue with some friends a week ago and was happy to discover that the Melting Pot has a vegetarian option. The reality was rather disappointing. It was essentially a batter dip the veggies and then deep fry it option. The cheese course and the chocolate course were more than delicious though.
Health-wise I feel about the same. Tummy has only acted up once and that was after eating a hot fudge sundae. Headaches, huh...now that I think about it I haven't really had any headaches in the past three weeks. Interesting that.
Blood sugar has managed to remain pretty steady too. Although I do need to start keeping snacks on had for days that I go jogging or to Kung Fu after work.
Speaking of Kung Fu. I had an interesting incident this past week. Class started off normal enough. Made it through the warm up without issues and then we went into endurance drills. My breathing was labored, my heart rate went way up, I went from sweaty to dry, and I started to get side stitches, and my limbs felt shaky and weak. I tried resting for a few minutes, drinking some water, and getting back on the mats. Only to feel like I was going to pass out.
When I checked my heart rate I was 140 bpm. At this point I was told to sit down, I was done for the day.
I don't know if the no meat diet change had anything to do with this. Looking back at all the things I had eaten that day I think I ate way too little (an almond and apricot scone for breakfast and two slices of mushroom pizza at lunch). So yeah, snacks! Snacks will be happening! If this happens again next week I'll be looking at going to the doctor's.
