And why was my husband surprised that I won the first prize in the romance category?
I must have looked stupid when I went to pick up Pat's second prize (she had to step away right then!) and heard my name announced, totally missing the words "And the first prize goes to..." Thoroughly confused, I stopped and didn't know which way to go, while people all around congratulated me. To say it was an unexpected prize is to say nothing, especially, after the critique I got in the workshop for the same story.
A very interesting day with an even funner night. A boy in my novel class promised to send me his notes, since I couldn't write today, but, I guess, he got sidetracked and forgot.
