As Johnny’s juniors, they’ve gained different kinds of experiences and for this reason, have dreams they can tell now. This time, we asked them about their dreams for the future just a little bit seriously.
Juri Tanaka
This is maybe too straight but I want to become a star who’s recognized by anyone! When you’re in Johnny’s, you sing, dance, act, talk... you’re able to do different kinds of things, right? Because of that, even though up until now I’ve been describing my dreams one by one like “I wanna became super good at acting” or “I wanna become a great singer”, “I wanna become like Yamashita-kun”, after I went that around once, it finally hit me, that “I want to become a star anyone will recognize”. It’s unbelievably big dream, and really hard. Although before the extent was as simple as “I want to debut”. But, when you debut, that’s not the end of it, so I thought that it would be better to have a dream that you can continue chasing even after debut. Because of that, I will do my best with any kind of work!!
I’d also want to try making songs, that's my other dream. But right now, I have many things except that that I must do. I have high school, I have junior activities, and hanging out with friends and getting your mood refreshed is also important (laughs). Besides, I want to go to university. Because I love kids, I thought I’d want to study as a kindergarten teacher in university. But, when I properly heard about it, to get the qualification, you can’t skip classes and studying also seems hard, so doing that together with the junior activities seems severe. I still don’t know what will happen but I want to study foreign language(s), so I plan to enter university. My parents also said that “it would be good for you to study foreign language”. So, after graduating from university, it would be good if I could make myself quite a lot of time and with concentration make songs.

The time I seriously started thinking what my dream was, was when I entered the agency and in different kinds of situations was being asked about my dream for the future. I like singing and dancing with everyone, and because the junior activities are fun, I’ve got many kinds of dreams. Because acting is also interesting, I want to acquire more acting ability and try acting in different kinds of roles. Up until now, there have been many yankee-like roles, so I’d like to try “majime-chan*” kind of role (laughs). With dramas, when playing your part you’re able to do things you can’t with your own personal experience, and being able to become a different person is really fun.
[*A pun to Yankee-kun to Megane-chan manga/drama, I think. Majime means serious.]
When we were filming the drama GTO, there was a time that the co-actors took me out to eat. I heard lots of different things and really received power and at that moment, I got a solution to all the thing that I’d been worrying over. I was happy and thought that kind of ability is really great. Because of that, if my future kouhai will come to me for a discussion, I want to become a senpai who can say powerful things and cheer up that person. That’s also a dream of the me right now!
To make one’s dream come true, I think the great effort is necessary for that. Doing stuff with great effort every day, and showing a different, new kind of self compared to the one up until now is important. There may also be times when one fails, but if one won’t take challenges nothing will begin, and one can also gain something from mistakes, so. Having dreams, doing things with great effort, be it in work or in private, it would be good if I could become a cool adult like that.

Before 25, I want to try being a lead actor in a drama or movie! The aim is great but if you don’t stand up to a specific goal, you won’t make progress, I think. Now my acting is still poor but with my own poor way, going at it with all my might, while worrying and feeling down, getting self-confidence, I want to gain different experiences now when I’m young. Also, when doing “Kamen Teacher”, I thought about this while watching Fujigaya-kun. Being the main actor isn’t only about one’s acting ability but also about pulling the kouhai along, calming down the filming spot - the other side of the lead actor that isn’t displayed on the screen… Like, as a person, that’s so great. I need to improve in that, too. Before 25, I’m going to raise my popularity and become a man that can be recognized with ”As expected, he’d only become a lead actor!”.
I also have a goal concerning singing. First, I want to find ”a person whose song affinity matches[with mine]”, that when we sing, our harmonies would fit precisely. Ideal would be that we’d have our places in a group, but that each would be able to do solos, in a same way that Kinki Kids-san. I like singing in a group but my dream is to try to sing as a solo artist someday.
In private, right now the thing that must be done is to make my room more adult-like. Because my room is way too cute. Like, the curtains haven’t been changed since I was in elementary school, they have a design with animal illustrations (laughs). Anyway, I’ll change my curtains to wine red colored ones, nonchalantly putting tasteful illumination!

When I was small, my dream was to be a carpenter. When I was in kindergarten, dad constructed our house and I often went to the actual site with him. Even as a child, I really admired that like “he carries such heavy poles alone, so cool”. After that, I also had interest in becoming a PE teacher, and thought that hair and makeup artists are cool, and after I joined the agency and have been able to do different kinds of work, my world’s widened again.
Right now, I have one thing that I’d want to surpass. I like to talk and I’m being able to appear in a variety show now, so at first I want to study and master that. It’s necessary to increase your knowledge, and I’m also watching lots of variety shows at home. I get a losing kind of feeling if I go and ask people what would be good to do, so I want to learn by myself, even if it’s little by little. Because of that, if my part in a variety show can be used without any cuts, I’m super happy (laughs).
I think that the fact that I’ve been able to see different kinds of worlds and have many different dreams is thanks to my parents who have let me do things freely. I’ll become twenty next year, and I want to take them out for a delicious dinner then. I constantly try to convey my thanks to them but isn’t the gratitude when becoming an adult a bit special? Because of that, my close future dream is to eat delicious food with my family at leisure while expressing them my feelings of gratitude.
