(no subject)

I think I'm becoming really, really REALLY IB because I'm actually connecting all my subjects together. For example, today in Anthropology we were talking about adaptation of cultures and counterculture, so I mentioned the idea of thesis +antithesis =synthesis, which we have talked about in history. Then in biology I was answering a question about whether you can determine the sequence of codons that translated into amino acids just by seeing the amino acids, and I so I said that there are multiple codons that translate to the same amino acid so you can't know exactly, and then I ALMOST wrote, "It is not a function because it does not pass the vertical line test." Don't worry, I restrained myself. :)

In terms of an actual life... well I don't have too much to say for that, although I am going to meet Claire, Oliver's famous girlfriend tonight! I'm excited to see what she's like, because all I know so far is that she has blonde hair and blue eyes, lives in Kitchener-Waterloo, is in Grade Twelve and (presumably) likes canoe tripping, since they met at canoe tripping camp.

I'm also going to go to the Halloween dance, which is amazing since I've never gone to a VRA dance before. Now that Tiffany is social convenor I'm getting peer pressured into it, plus I figured that I have to go to at least one high school dance in my life.

In Social Justice Club today we talked about sweatshop free uniforms. :) We're planning to make a social justice club specific one for us, and we might be able to make it available to the rest of the school too. Sadly, Mr. Santalucia doesn't really want to approve switching uniform companies for the main uniforms until it gets okayed by his superiors, so Tiffany has brought it to the trustee- or superintendent, or whoever is above SantaLuch.

Mr. Reiss continues to give us more and more material for Reiss's Pieces (a facebook group devoted to our amazing biology teacher's best quotes). Today he was talking about hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties, and he was writing it on the board and said, "Oops! remember, it's hydrophilic- not hydrophallic."

Yeah, that's about all I've got. Until next time-
Karen
