on the rolling plains of dixie, 'neath the sunkissed sky...

i'm taking this opportunity of no tennis class to elucidate on the mythical being that is rocky top...

those of you who do not attend said institution, or have never been to the glory that is knox-vegas, are in for ... something.

their mascot is smokey the dog, a slightly over-weight hound wearing orange. him and the volunteer guy with the gun, who is supposed to look vaguely like davie crockett, the hero of the alamo, whom i am sure is honored to be a mascot. "rocky top" is the theme of the their days, which is a little sad, considering phrases such as:

"once i had a girl on rocky top, half bear, the other half cat..."

"corn don't grow at all on rocky top, dirt's too rocky by far..."

"...strangers ain't come down from rocky top, reckon they never will..."

inhuman, hungry people, who keep strangers as prisoners among rocky mountains...all i have to say is watch out, oh ye of the plains.

eventually, if we can get claire to conform and accept that leaving town simply has to involve some sort of PLAN (we're leaving at one thirty claire, so pack your bags)

i end with the eloquent words of our fight song:

WAR EAGLE FLY DOWN THE FIELD, EVER TO CONQUER, NEVER TO YIELD
WAR EAGLE, FEARLESS AND TRUE, FIGHT ON YOU ORANGE AND BLUE
(GO GO GO)
ON TO VICTORY, STRIKE UP THE BAND
GIVE 'EM HELL, GIVE 'EM HELL
STAND UP AND YELL, HEY!
WAR EAGLE WIN FOR AUBURN, POWER OF DIXIE LAND!!
