GiftUp.org

The other day Elijah tweeted a link to a service called GiftUp, which allows you to donate items that they they auction off online (probably eBay). A large percentage -- I think it's 60% -- of the money your donation brings in is given to one of the charities that GiftUp is partnered with; you can choose which one.

As it happens, I'm in the process of moving house, and I have a ridiculous quantity of stuff that I need to be getting rid of. Some of it's small and useless, but there are bigger things too, like a stereo/CD changer and a television. So I clicked the link Elijah tweeted and sent them an e-mail to ask for more information.

About 20 minutes ago I got an e-mail from Hannah Wood. Not a form e-mail; a personal one, to ask about my location and what kind of stuff I've got to donate. So that excellent company is a new startup of hers. What an entrepreneurial woman she is! And it's such a great thing to do -- a win/win for everybody. Damn, I like those Wood folks. They are mighty good people.

Edit: So I'm looking through their eBay store and stuff, and everything is, like, brand-new and incredibly expensive and brand-name... like (not unexpectedly) Rodarte. THAT kind of brand-name. Feeling a little intimidated here. Ah, well. I guess she'll say no if she's not interested.

links, family
