That 'Will saw the kiss, so that he would be driven to piracy'. The fuck? Why exactly? for revenge? to make himself more attractive to Elizabeth? What is it about seeing that that would turn him make him a pirate besides those two things.
I really think Will's new goal is to free his father. You'll notice at the end Tia Dalma addresses him and it permeates somewhat, when she talks about how Will wanted to use the Pearl to save Bootstrap - to me, that would be a plausible reason to be driven to piracy. The old man may be a right bastard, but he IS Will's father and I think Will's sense of familial obligation is stronger even than his manufactured obligation to Elizabeth.
I also read that in AWE, Will is all about revenge. That he's hell bent on making Jack suffer for 'stealing his girl'.Where did you read that? On a fan site, I hope? Will doesn't strike me as that type - one hopes he has enough sense to KNOW Elizabeth by now and that she doesn't do anything she doesn't want to. And Jack is a lot of things, but someone who forces

I completely agree, but I also think it's already firmly established by the time he sees 'the kiss'. My issue is why is it that particular event that pushes him to piracy? And does he really need to be pushed to piracy? He's done a few piratey things already: broke an man out of jail, commandeered a ship of the fleet, sailed with a buccaneer crew out of Tortuga, not to mention his 'treasure' obsession, and that was just in CotBP. In DMC, he prevaricates, dices for his soul, pick pockets (tentacles?) the 'devil', welshes on his pseudo-deal with Jack. He may not be a Jack or Barbossa level scallywag, but he's hardly an upstanding citizen.

My closest guess is that it could be construed that Will thinks Elizabeth wants Jack instead of him, so (1) he no longer has to hang on to any vestige of law-abidingness to satisfy Elizabeth or her father, and he can instead turn his attention to freeing his own father any way possible, or (2) he thinks it's the pirate thing that Elizabeth wants, so he tries to become *more* of one as an attention-getter. The first seems more likely to me, given Will's personality.
I'm not sure we can give much credit to the spoilers, either, except to know some of them are surely true - just which ones, we've no clue.

I get this, and it makes sense. I guess it just irritates me that the one thing that was actually about Will (saving Pops) and not Elizabeth, or his relationship with her, or his understandable need to save her, seems to somehow boomerang around and become all about Elizabeth, again.
But really, considering the kind of guy Will is, it's understandable. I mean, he loves her, it is appropriate that he considers her in what he does and how it could affect her and those she cares about.
Rational moment aside, the thought of #2 being a possibility just makes me nuts.

Absolutely, but there is just so much crap to weed through. Even the true ones can be misleading in the wrong context.

I think you'll enjoy this - either that, or beat your head into a wall somewhere. I'm not sure what authority someone can have on DMC *not* being OOC for most of the main characters when they admit the differing characterizations are what they prefer in DMC over CotBP.
I get that some people would prefer DMC and the characterizations therein, especially a J/E-er, but what about those that did like CotBP. Don't we deserve to like the ending of this mess as well? We're the reason there was a DMC after all.
And really, if all this J/E prophesying comes to pass, it will be pretty east to just ignore it like bad fanfiction. It pretty much has all the earmarks of it, Elizabeth suitably 'Mary-Sue', Jack ridiculously OOC and Will ignored or disregarded.
