First and Last

This will be my first, and perhaps last post.  Why will this more then likely be my last post?  Because I quit everything I have ever started.  I have so many projects that were started and forgotten.  Why do I quit everything?  It must have something to do with losing interest in whatever it is I am working on.  I'm just missing whatever it ( Read more... )

Yes we should always be on the path to improve ourselves but not become self obsessed with the idea of change. I think we can change the way we percieve and act/react on things without changing who we are.

The way I see it is that we have a core self made up of things that make us who we are. Things that no matter what will never change, because they are like chemistry. Every time you mix two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen you get water. But.. there are definitely things/decisions/reactions/whatever in our lives that we encounter that could be handled differently.

Everyday I believe we have many many different paths we could choose in every situation. Some of these paths are obviously bad, some are okay, and some seem great.. but there is always one path that is the best for us. We don't always know it's the best, but that is somethign we all learn through trial and error. So instead of focusing on all the things I wish to change about myself, instead I'd rather focus on doing my best to be conscientous about the paths before me, and in tune with myself well enough to choose the correct one. I won't always pick the right one, but sometimes I will and I don't believe it will be due to luck.

I think maybe, Miss Heartcha, you misunderstood what i was trying to say. When I spoke of being on a quest for self improvement, I did not mean to make it your obsession. I meant it in a much more passive sense, in that you should always be trying to take a step forward. Or as you put it, doing your best. Because your best yesterday wont be your best today, nor will your best today be your best tomorrow. Hence your change.

As far as that core self goes. I don't know one way or the other how the brain works enough to say weather your right or wrong on that. On a personal level I hope your wrong. I would hate to think that any part of me was permanent. To a exaggerated extent that would almost be like predetermined destiny, and the thought of that is incredibly depressing. I guess all I'm saying is that I hope drastic change in someone is possible because as I am now... I'm a pitiful excuse for a person.
