When Did Emotion Become Taboo?

Jul 12, 2011 13:11

This is something I've noticed in society over the past decade. Someone crying? Bad. Someone thinking deep thoughts? Bad. Someone questioning an established norm of stoicism and shallow thoughts? Bad.

Why?

Why is emotion, passion, bad? I get the feeling that I have to be only half myself to the people I care about most. It makes me feel stifled, empty, and utterly unsatisfied when I do this, but if I don't I end up having to deal with being labeled as 'emo' or told to cheer up.

It is utterly frustrating.

Anyways, just a sad, sad vent, and really I wonder if I should just clear the slate of all my friends and start over fresh, as painful as that might turn out to be.

PS: by all I mean most, mle. <3.
