Ok, so I'm updating again. I'm a very bad blogger. You have Daniel to thank (or be mad at, however you feel) for reminding me to update.
I just got back from a bridge tournament in Vegas. It was pretty miserable. I didn't play my best, and neither did my partner, but she then started being even WORSE because she was very upset about all of it. And of course, I can't really control a table. And then she started getting very upset at me, because instead of insuring that the opponnents make only 4NT, I found the lead that holds them to 3, but allowed her to let them make 5. I don't trust the formatting on this, or else I'd illustrate it. I just hate being bitched at.
Two good things came out of the tournament, though: I met more juniors (I actually did the talking to people thing, which is actually wierd for me. While I do like talking, it's usually only to my friends, I kinda don't usually approach strangers). While I'm not claiming that I'm now instantly in with the junior crowd, or anything even approaching that (I'm actually pretty sure that I made a bad impression, because I feel that's what I do at first with people) but at least now I'll know more faces to put with names in the junior lists.
The other good thing is that I was up $90 on the casinos. Mainly from Spanish 21 at the Fitzgerald, and mainly thanks to Kent (Mignocchi) who is one of my favorite people in the bridge world right now. Not because of the money. If you want someone fun to hang around with, follow him around.
I probably shouldn't bore you faithful readers with telling you how much I miss Adam. At least I get to see him in New York in ten more days, I think it is. I'm bad at math. July 8. You can figure it out. Last I saw him was a long time ago.
It's quarter to 3 (am) in LA. I really should be going to bed, but I have to pack. Tomorrow I'm leaving to go play in Ontario (a regional, and in CA, not Canada) and I'm going straight to the airport from there on Friday morning. Well, kinda straight. It's complicated. But I'm not going home before that. So I need to be packed with clothes for tomorrow through July 25 (end of jr bridge camp). I will get to do laundry at Sarah's, hopefully. and maybe in camp. I still haven't decided how many changes of clothes to bring. Probably a week's worth, but I'm wondering if I could make do with less. Probably not.
At least my clothes won't all smell of smoke (that's what being in a casino does to them, and to my hair).
I also need to remember Alhambra and Coupling.
Oh, and I got the third dvd of coupling.
