So, basically here's the world set up for those not familiar with the book: There's no government. Well there is, but it's just about irrelevant as hyperinflation has hit the U.S. Economy and a billion dollars is chump change and there are little city-states (sort of) made from big company empires that have their own currency (e.g. There's a Hong Kong themed company empire with a cur) Elisabeta is a worn-down programmer for said the irrelevant Federal Government; a government bureaucratic to the point there is a multi-page memo on intra-office toilet paper policies which good employees are expected to spend 15.62 minutes reading. She's very tired of this job. She may recognise Gilbert, her annoying childhood friend, now a pizza boy for Cosa Nostra Pizza (run by the Mafia) wherein a late pizza will get you a favour from the mafia and the death of the incompetent pizza boy and zipping around town in the shortest possible speed is now the main service to compete with. She may also recognise her boss Alfred, who always seemed cheerful despite the monotony (which really just unnerved her)
