So my lone rat Bonnie is scheduled for surgery tomorrow to have two tumors removed, and I notice blood under her tail. I know the vet is going to tell me it is a uterine infection which is what killed Kahlua, and she'll need surgery for that too. Bonnie is almost three years old, which is old for a rat, and I was already stressing about the tumors because I don't know how taxing a recovery will be on her at this age... I imagine if all my friends and family died and I was all alone with tumors and a fucked up uterus, I would prefer to just die at that point. However, Bonnie has always been a bit of a loner rat even with her sisters. She seems content being by herself, and she is still functioning normally; eating, drinking, running in her wheel. I don't really know what call to make here. Is it more humane to have her put to sleep than to put her through the discomfort of multiple surgeries and recovery? Or should I just go for it since she's such a survivor. I mean... she's been "busted" (I think she had a stroke a while back. She walks all crooked) for months now and enjoying life the same as always.

I hate having to be forced with this decision. :( Within a week of RanFan's death too...
