The 4th of April was my 10 year LiveJournal Anniversary. I think I may very well be the very first online social network USER (who is not also the creator of said network) in the history of the World(and I will continue to refine that statement with more specifics for those who challenge me until it is irrefutabale :-) ..."Fame" by association, and through the fate of a random power outage, D/C midi keyboard and shitty dorm assignment that lead to my friendship with Brad. I'm sorry, I can't be troubled for autographs.
I anticipated some grandiose meaningful post for my 10th anniversary but when the day came I realized I didn't have much to write. I took a look back and thought briefly about some year by year re-posts but then quickly realized that the few people who would find that interesting know how to use the calendar function just as well as I do. It really is fascinating how things change, how others stay the same. I feel fortunate to have this record.
I haven't posted in almost 2 years and I suppose the start of the posting decline and hiatus coincides pretty closely with the beginning of my serious pursuit for a job in the fire service. The far reaching background investigations and fact that I'd one day be walking around with my name plastered on my uniform prompted me to clean up my (already fairly clean) online profile. After privacy increased....I don't know. I guess I just never picked it back up. I created myspace, facebook, and twitter accounts to follow those of you who've moved on but haven't brought myself to post. You are all so much more interesting anyway...
So, I think there's only one logical thing left to do. Retire the journal. Now now, stop the sniffles, it won't be so bad, I promise. I'll still check my email and answer my phone. If you happen to be in the area we MIGHT even be able to hang out...heh. Take care all. I'm out.
But first, I suppose there's one more thing to do.
The Beginning (April 4th,1999): Cool, Check out the What-is-Eli-doing log that brad just programmed for me. Now you'll be able to know exactly what I'm doing and when I'm doing it
...
The End(April 13th, 2009):
Update:
Only 2 calls yesterday, remarkably slow even for this new station. I probably won't learn as much here as I did the last go-round but it'll be nice to have the extra time to study up for the 1 year exam. Only 23 more shifts as a Probationary Firefighter. July 7th is fast approaching, I can't wait.
