I'm putting these wonderful Cordy/Fred fic recs that were left for me in this post (in the comments sections)
Cordy/Fred fic recs into a separate post for easy access for myself and others. Many, many thanks to the person who recced them and for her links and comments. All of the ones I have read so far are terrific and it was such a thrill to find so many good fic for what has been a fairly neglected pairing.
Be Delicious - Fred's brave, Cordy's got a big heart despite herself, and both of them are beautiful. A perfect Cordelia POV rounds out this lush, funny, and tender AUish missing scene for That Old Gang of Mine.
Just want to add my rec to this one. Gorgeous, sweet, sexy fic with lovely characterization.
Sweet, Sour, and Sweet Again (The Monster at the End of This Book Remix) - stunning metafiction about vision, death, power, and what that means for us reading Cordelia and Fred's deaths. I have literally never read any other fic like this. They're dead, but not destroyed, and if it's true that only monsters survive the alleyway, then Fred and Cordelia, just themselves, are monsters too, at the end of the story.
East of the Sun, West of the 5 - astonishing, provocative Fred voice. This one's about vision, too: Cordelia is the princess is the knight is the monster. Fred's going to have to revise all her theories. Not by the same author as Sweet, Sour, and Sweet Again, but I recommend reading them together (in whatever order), because I think something neat happens when you do.
The Queen of Outrageous - dead-on Cordelia voice, plus funny, sexy, and just a little heartbreak to go with the believably awkward aftermath. If they'd ever gotten naked together, it might have gone like this.
She Made Me Real - delicate Fred backstory and romance with Cordy over seasons 3-5, laced with sweetness, sorrow, and hope. One of the most appealing aspects of this work is how carefully it treats Fred's reactions to events (Connor, Cordelia's coma and death, Wesley), which unfold essentially the same way as canon. Excellent ending and use of the prompt for the challenge.
Once in a Lullaby - could almost be a missing scene from canon. Pitch-perfect tender humor in this moment between Cordy and Fred, on the run in Pylea.
Beautiful - the default mode for Cordelia/Fred here seems to be funny/frustrated/tender, but at least this one's got a happy ending. Fred POV; great lines for both Cordelia and Fred. Just left of canon.
White - funny and sharp Cordelia POV on the birth of attraction.
Fredful - despite the slightly silly pun, a wry and astute first-person portrait of Cordelia. Cordy's world-weary and a little lonely, but she's seeing something worth exploring in Fred.
Movies and Research - sharp, funny, well-developed Cordy POV on her own backstory, getting wise, and going after Fred. A cameo by Angel acts as a sweet, knowing flourish for this sweet little story.
Settling for Perfection - Angel's gently insistent. Cordy and Fred are believably awkward, get buzzed on margaritas, and practice a few things, starting with cheerleading. Sweet and funny.
Heavenly - in the afterlife, Fred finds out she's chosen Cordelia as her guide. Then, they choose each other. Sweet, funny, and a little sad, spiked with sharp little observations and dialogue that keep the piece feeling true. If Fred's honest, she's always sort of been in awe of Cordelia, her confidence and poise and certainly her beauty. While she's being honest, she acknowledges that a teeny, tiny part of her relished Cordelia's absence during the coma. Suddenly Fred was centre stage for the first time in her life. Then comes the guilt associated with that train of thought. Not that she would ever share any of that with the girl in question.
Sweet Tequila - Fred has plans for the evening. Cordelia's happy to get drunk with Fred anytime. For several seconds, Cordelia didn’t say a word. Then she let out a soft laugh as she reached out to touch Fred’s arm. “Well, it’s a good thing that I’m drunk then,” she said lightly.
Fred looked up, an uncertain expression on her face. “I- I don’t understand.”
“The only time I make out with other women is when I’m drunk,” Cordelia replied with some impatience. “If you want any more details, you’re going to have to talk with Harmony. Or Aura. Or Shanisse. Or Joy.”
