Man U have their lead cut by two points

J. and I gathered this morning around the laptop to catch up on football. He's a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, which for those more familiar with American baseball is a bit like being a fan of the Chicago Cubs. It's the experience of watching a talented but not fantastic team develop new stars, new skills, new tactics and yet perennially manage to snatch defeat from the yawning jaws of victory. I'm not quite sure, but I think this has been going on for upward of twenty years. I think they won UEFA in 1986 but I'm frankly too lazy at 11:00 PM to go look it up. In unrelated news, they defeated Man City 2-1 and J. was insufferably pleased about it.

Some time afterward we caught up again to find my own dear team, Manchester United, to find them defeated by West Ham, 1-0. This is clearly just one of those bizarre anomalies that befalls any great squad. What matters is that they're still at the top of the Premiereship at 44 points. =)
