goth night has returned to 1135 Decatur Street, now a lesbian bar called "Rubyfruit Jungle", formerly The Dervish, where i first did my NOLA goth dancing.) this is the Corrosion contingent which recently broke off from the Dragon's Den / Attrition crew. it has been a LOT of fun, and it seems it will go on indefinately!D it looks rather different inside, and the dancefloor is a little smaller to accomidate a bit of a stage, but the men's room is pretty much exactly the same (i guess they don't use it much otherwise.) nice, somewhat different crowd from the Den (though with lots of overlap) and with a generally more noisy or gothy sound than them as well.)

Fast Times 80's Night at One Eyed Jacks (615 Toulouse Street [& Chartres Street] French Quarter) rather poppy, and gets mad crowded around peak hour, but i still manage to dance my ass off and have fun!)

some kind of lo-fi documentary on the INSANE gypsie-punk band Gogol Bordello will be screening at the Zeitgeist (1618 Oretha C Haley Blvd [& Terpsichore Street] Central City) also btw, the band themselves will be playing Voodoo Fest Halloween Night!D if you've never seen them... yeah.)

Baltimore's own electro-spaz king will be hitting up NOLA with the Nuclear Power Pants at the Big Top (1638 Clio Street, Central City, just Upriver on Saint Charles Avenue past the CBD, Lee Circle, and the Pontchatrain Expressway) i believe this will be a solo performance without the big Bromst band, which is fine by me.) if you do not know Dan Deacon... you really should check out his stuff before deciding not to go, because it is a fantastically magical show, if you're at all into this kind of thing, and it'd be a REAL shame to miss a chance to see him outside of Baltimore and the East Coast where we get to see him all the time. his music is REDICULOUSLY fun, hyper, and bouncy, people REALLY freak out and jump all over the place to it (even hipsters, who usually won't dance to anything!) and it turns into a crazy sweaty bouncing super-happy mob, and there's a flashing green strobe-skull!D it truely is a sight to behold.) Wham City, y'all!D this is one of my favorite videos, and should give you an idea of what you're in for:
