New year

Jan 03, 2007 21:19

So, it's really 2007. After a couple of very up-and-down years, I am going to rededicate myself this year to living a good life. Not "the good life," but a real, down-to-earth, help the people who need it, try to improve things for humanity GOOD LIFE.

On New Year's Eve, my friend Beatriz asked me to tell her two things that made me excited in 2006, and then two things that I want to happen in 2007.

Here were my answers:
2006- a) Became good friends with many of the principals at Rhymesayers and Doomtree, and got to work with them in many mutual beneficial ways. b) Christine and Jack moved closer, enabling me to see my son for a few days in each of the past 4 months.

2007- a) Publication of the new comic on which I'm working. b) A new job.

I am also thinking of moving out of the glorious 1313 apartment in a couple months, and am looking for a temporary or possibly permanent residence with some friends. It's time for a change. And time to refocus on some things I've lost (such as my ability to keep a journal).

Some other highlights of the year:
-Meeting some truly amazing new people and being able to expand my already stellar cast of friends.
-Seeing a TON of shows for free.
-Going on some pretty incredible camping trips with friends, and not being bitten by any rattlesnakes.
-Having people continue to do double-takes when they learn my age.
-Seeing the success that my Dumbrellite friends have had over the past 12 months (it makes me so proud to know them).
-Participating in so many outdoor activities this summer (swimming, biking, hiking, outdoor game nights, bonfires) after being indoors most of the previous one.
-Reading some amazing poetry written by Jason Eddie Nowak.

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. I hope to see more of you in the upcoming year!
