random questions this mention of deadpool brings up, if you don't mind.
1: was it dubbed or subtitled? 2: if it was dubbed and you can speak English does it bother you that you know it isn't 'right'. Did the German voice fit the English trailers (if you saw them)? 3: If was subtitled is that irritating? 4: Are there places where you could watch it in English as 'normal'? around you? Is that a thing? 5: With English speaking actors, is there one voice actor that always does their films so that they sound the same? Like...their job is to be Robert Downey Jr?
ok, so this fascinated me for years and i really appreciate you answering. personally, I have seen 'run lola run' in German and in English and it totally blew my mind. I hated the English dubs! I ordered a copy online and only got the dubs and was devastated! It just feels 'better' in German' lol Amazon has a bad habit of thinking people want films in their own language. Nooo, I want to learn! On that note, rec any German speaking films based on ...idk, action, war, society, stuff? I don't do romance

I'd say most germans can understand/speak basic english. Age plays a big role (younger people much more likely to speak good english - my grandparents don't speak any english, my mom only knows a very few words) and the higher the education the better the english, usually.
Arnold Schwarzenegger (!? - he needs dubbing?!), Sylvester Stallone, John Travolta, Dan Akroyd, Terence Hill, John Cleese and Dennis Quaid ALL have the same german voice!
I think the problem there is, that when he speaks German, he has an accent mixed of American and Austrian, which just doesn't suit most of his parts. (It might also be cheaper to pay someone else. ;) But I think, mostly it's the accent mix.)

long, but you can skip around.
I'll think about movies!
In german TV EVERYTHING is dubbed. Everything.
