http://community.livejournal.com/otw_news/16030.html in regards to the first line of the anti-fanfic bingo card available
here.
These five are in two overlapping categories: crime and literary ethics.
(
You'd think it was murder or child abuse, the way they carry on, not obscure points of tort law )
Ermm... do you really think fans should be spending more energy on sex than on fandom? I mean, other than maybe during their late teen years?
it is supposed to be FUN. A diversion. Entertainment. A hobby.
It is all of those things. I like my diversions to be intense. I want them to overwhelm me while I'm doing them. I also like my orgasms to be near-blackouts. I consider these to be related traits. Other people are free to relate to fandom, or whatever their hobby is, at whatever level of intensity they desire.
I like fanfiction, in part, because it allows me to explore intensity that modern American society (and other places, I gather), with its Puritanical ideals built deep in the culture, tells women that we are supposed to be calm and serene, devoid of strong emotions of any sort. I reject the notion that people are "healthier" when they are numb.
I am, however, fascinated that you feel compelled to tell me to "kill myself" for liking something too much. What, you're so disturbed by someone else having strong feelings that you think they should remove themselves from the gene pool? Afraid I might get my fandom-is-a-way-of-life cooties on you?
The problem isn't people saying "my fanfiction is more important than the law!". The problem is people saying "my fanfiction is my motherfucking SEXUALITY!"
So... criminal activity is better than alternative forms of sexuality, in your mind? Sexualities you don't understand should be abolished? People whose erotic drives are engaged by stuff you think should be casual fun only have broken minds?
Where did you get your psych degree?

You cannot tell me fandom is rocket science, because it isn't. You cannot tell me fandom is deoxyribonucleic acid, because it isn't. You cannot tell me fandom is a banana, because it isn't. You cannot tell me fandom is sexuality, because it isn't. As much as you'd like to believe that reality and truth are subjective, because that way there's a possibility you aren't a total fuckup of a human being, you're incorrect.
Your reply suggests you think I'm persecuting you in some way rather than calling you broken. Again, incorrect. "Sexualities I don't understand"? Yeah right, dipshit. Although I would say that people who fuck goats should probably not be allowed to do so, as it is both harmful and (pay attention here!) indicative of a warped psyche. It is possible to do things that are wrong. This hippy-dippy-all-tolerance bullshit is only propagated by people who've never actually thought through the issues. Your philosophy is retarded, your "sexuality" is a lie, your "psychology" would make any real psychologist cry, and you're fat and ugly.
Kill yourself! :D

I'm not trying to "convince" anyone that fandom is a sexuality. My erotic interests are my own; nobody else is required to share them. Did you miss the memo? Kink is no longer a thoughtcrime unless it has negative impact on one's life. Since I have a good job, happy family, RL and online friends, and am able to interact coherently and politely with strangers (a skill you apparently lack), my kinks are allowed to flourish at my will.

you would not merit a sneeze on fandom_wank, much less a post, but keep doing whatever it takes to justify yourself, ace

Umm, did you have a reason for commenting? Were you under the impression that I'd see a comment by a random stranger who hates my ideas and spews insults at me, and say, "Oh, I was SO WRONG! Obviously, fandom can't be as important to me as sex! And I am harming all of fandom by loving it too much!"
Or did the girl you were stalking turn you down, and you had to vent at someone?

FWIW, I don't mind at all. If you're the opposition to erotic fanfiction, to devotional fanfiction, to extreme fanfiction... I'm not worried about our future.

"extreme fanfiction"
at least you people are too busy masturbating over your creative souls to breed. I look forward to the day when a devotional fanfiction writer makes a positive contribution to society and/or the world as we know it.
oh wait.

They, too, value fandom more than sex. But I think that's more than appropriate, at their ages.

I have to stop here because there's really no point when the jokes make theselves. bye now!

I mean, I understand your running away once you figured out that yes, I really do think like this all the time, and some random wanker online isn't going to change that... I'm just curious what you expected before that.
