LJ bans some interests by removing their searchability

Right now, some interests don't work for searching, neither from the searchbar nor people's profiles. These include "genocide" (and all easily-identifiable variations: rwanda genocide, romani genocide, etc.), "child pornograpy" (and variations thereof), "child prostitution," not sure what else is now forbidden to search for.

Hi, someone on my flist mentioned the problem with "genocide" and, in my efforts to find out more about the issue, I ended up here.

Interesting facts:
A Google blogsearch shows that Russians--or at least users who use the Cyrillic alphabet--have been having the problem for a while now.

Weirdly, you can't search for Spice Girls.

Do you like spicy food Too darn bad.

What are little girls made of? You can't do a search on that either.

"Stop child pornography" is blocked too...!
Also "child sexual abuse" (listed by abusesurvivor).

"Rape porn", however, is fine.

The first two contain the root terms 'child porn' and 'child sex'. All phrases containing those roots are blocked.

"genocide survivor" is also blocked, probably due to the root word. I fired off a question to LJ feedback asking them about it. I'm a teacher, and I've just this morning started planning a history lesson about genocide - which actually fits into part of my curriculum! I would like to be able to search for survivors to give a personal account and bring the lessons home to my students.

"White power" and "white power world wide." Found them on some of the, well, white power journals.

"Kike" is a term for Jews, comparable to "nigger." Very insulting; nobody says it as a joke.

"Jap" is also (and more commonly) a derogatory term for Japanese people. When it's used as Jewish American Princess it's more properly written JAP, though I've seen it both ways.
