Awake?

I went to the HP meetup last night. The one rexluscus was "organizing," although "organize" seems to be a short way to say "encouraging 'I'll be there' comments at her journal."

Got to meet (listed in the order my brain is dredging up names, not the order I met them in or any other order) rexluscus, loupgarou1750, stasia, sinick, auctasinistra, aubrem, pir8fancier, pauraque, perverse_idyll, acromantular, shudaizi, laurelwood, and at least four other people whose LJ identities I have apparently forgotten.

I forget that fandom in the Bay Area is not small. Aucta flew in from San Diego, but the rest of us are all local. (For some values of "local." My notion of "the bay area" includes Marin to South San Jose; from the coast to Livermore.) Wow. I had some vague notion that rexluscus was in SoCal (I have no idea where I got that from), that loupgarou1750 probably lived in the midwest somewhere (apparently, I never look at anyone's profile) when she lives about a mile from me, that pir8fancier lived on the east coast or somewhere that pretty much guaranteed I'd never meet her.

Since I didn't drink any Sangria, why do I feel like I've got a hangover? Whichever one of you bitches has the weird legilimency "transfer headache" spell is in trouble.

I would love to make a nice long review-ish post, like all those post-Lumos reports: I met X and we chatted about the slavery of house elves, I met Y and she was lovely and vibrant and just enchanting to watch, I met Z and she was quiet and serene just like you'd expect. Maybe later. I don't have the energy.

I have weird politics on my religious forums--two different sets at once, which is unusual--and I have workish stuff I'm supposed to get done today, and I have a house that looks like a tornado ripped through the Hogwarts library, and I have a headache the size of Cleveland. Ow. Instead of doing anything useful, I am re-reading fic. I am afraid to go looking for any of the stories that were discussed last night.  (Not that many stories were discussed. Much *gossip* was discussed. Stories take a quieter setting to talk about.)

Next time, there will be name tags. Next time, there will be seating in a circle from the beginning. Next time, there will not be restaurant noises to have to yell over.

There will be a next time. This was too much fun.
