'Tis the season...

November has passed and now it's time to get ready for Christmas.

Got a webcam earlier in November from Jim in Toledo as an early birthday present. *schmoopy grin* It's been so nice chatting with him via Skype. He's such a sweetie. I grow more fond of him each time we talk. Birthday week in the middle of November was mellow, but nice. Got some nice presents from my son and several friends locally. My friend and minister, Carla, took me to get my hair cut and I was inspired to actually use the henna hair dye I ordered from Henna Hut that evening for some yummy red hair. I've had nothing but compliments on my hair.

Living here has been a blessing in so many ways. It's not perfect, no. Wouldn't be HUD housing if it were perfect. But, thanks to the work of our service coordinator I'm able to get more services than I knew were available. There's even a nurse practitioner that comes here biweekly over the winter. And she's damned good.

I had a lovely Thanksgiving. First had some turkey at noon with the folks here, and then later on at Robert's with him and his girlfriend and her parents.

I'm again singing with the Unity of Indianapolis Christmas choir this year on December 23rd. It's going to be an all music service, and I'm super excited about it. I love music and singing and have decided that one of my goals for 2013 is to further explore that side of me and develop that further. Interestingly, when I sing my pain levels go down.

I'm also crocheting and working on learning to knit. I also got one of those knook things - the modified crochet hook you use to knit. Nice for small projects, but I really can't see doing afghans or sweaters on it. Textile crafts keep the hands and fingers nimble, though, and are very relaxing.

Today one of my neighbor friends and I went out shopping together. It was fun. She got most of her Christmas done. I still need to get more, but I have my gift to give at the apartment gift exchange so I don't have to worry about that anymore. And I got Christmas cards to send out. The rest will come. :)

All in all, I'm happy and hopeful for a good Christmas/Yuletide season.
