Today started with a bang...

I was sitting at my computer at 8:20 AM, just about to go through email, when a power outage announced itself with a trailer shaking bang of a transformer blowing. Tried to focus and do some stuff around the house, but my routine was totally corrupted by that point. I called the power company back and instead of dealing with the automated system, I spoke with an individual named Toni. Addressing her by her first name (first step in receiving decent customer service), I explained that it was the whole street affected, not just me, and that I was concerned for the elderly people on my street adding that I, myself, am disabled. She checked and told me it was an "underground fault" and thus "could take a while"and asked if I was okay, do I use any life-giving devices that require electricity. I reassured her as to myself, but told her that I wasn't sure about some of the elderly people on the street. So, after swallowing my second round of morning pills, I went back to bed, read a bit, and meditated once more.

My inner musings and accompanying cat snuggles were interrupted by the rattling of the trailer skirting, which caused Sophie to levitate and dart off to see what the heck was going on: Magick was either deaf to it or much more chill about the situation and he stayed put. I knew it had to be the electric company working on whatever the "underground fault" was, which was apparently under my trailer.

Shortly after that the power came back on, heralded by a tiny electronic "beep" from my bedside phone handset. Checking my cell phone to reset my alarm clock to the appropriate time, I saw it was exactly two hours after the power went out. I sent a silent prayer of gratitude as I then heard the IPL truck pulling away.

Now I can start my routine. So I put coffee on and checked Facebook, sent out a get-well card, and in a change of routine decided to post here. Then after I have a second cup of coffee and read some here on LJ, I need to get started on housework, starting with taking my pants out of the freezer and chipping off the wax I spilled on them last night during the candlelight walk.

More thoughts later...
