slightly new directions

So today I started doing the Wednesday breakfast shift for the local community radio station. Aside from having to be out of bed hideously early, I loved it. Normally I'm on of a Saturday afternoon 4-6pm. There's really no challenge, not much excitement in that shift. Well, not now anyway. As far as I'm concerned it's too easy to just rock up & play songs.
But with breakfast radio, you need to always be watching your time, time your songs to fit in with the news, constant weather/traffic/train updates, constant time calls, have regular interviews with people, and act like a have a clue what's going on in the world (which fortunately I do).

For some strange reason breakfast radio is something I've always wanted to do. Maybe one day I will be able to earn a living by doing that sort of thing. One day. For the time being, one day a week at a community radio station is a good start.
