Cosplay update: Soul Calibur

Feb 28, 2011 23:44

Finally! Done with all my parts for our Soul Calibur III cosplay! All that’s left is to poke Boyfriend until he does the staff, sword, and takes me to the sign shop to make his belt buckle design and my hair pieces. (^_________^)b

Heehee! Not the right weapons, and Boy didn’t have his costume shoes for our impromptu shoot, but still. Hee!

Gotta work with my Boy on strong stances...

*doofy grin* He’s adowabul

Must remember to put left side forward; dress is prettier, and my heart-shaped bum burn (hot tea is hot!) peeks through on the right (^_^;;)

Kilik (player2) details:
This was relatively quick - I managed to sew all this in one month, with about a week or so previous for drafting the pattern and getting materials together.

The yellow is dragon-patterned silk that was originally white but still a pain in my bum to work with. The navy blue rattail cord was also a pain, since it kept slipping all over the place while I was trying to make the frog and toggle closures. Don’t ask how I did it, I have no clue XD

Whee, phoenix! I ended up cutting the base shape out of the same white cotton I used to edge everything, then went in with purple paint to do the details. All my teachers saw me hand-stitching the thing on (^_^;;) Actually, they saw me hand-stitching everything these past two months... The purple cotton underside is the same as inside the collar.

You can sort of see the dragon in the fabric... That’s the edge of the sleeve there on the left, with the detail. The blue is the same satin as the pants, which I actually bought a pattern for, gasp! XD The jacket pattern I drafted from a T-shirt, like I usually do.

Hems of the pants, with their strange, swirly designs...

Xianghua (player2) details:
This took forever. Mostly because I messed up in my design and needed to redo nearly every bit of the dress... *facepalm* Ok, so it was probably more like 2-3 months sewing, plus a week for drafting/gathering materials.

Hoo boy. The white silk and black satin pieces were originally two separate pieces, but the shoulders wouldn’t stay together. But when I made the dress one piece, I couldn’t put it on, so I had to redo my pattern.

Right hip cloud thing. The black hole is actually a hole. I can’t believe I’m going to wear this in public. But I am, partially because I worked very hard to edge every little thing (and I mean everything) in piping that I made myself so colors and fabrics would match. Making piping isn’t actually as hard as I thought, it’s just annoying.

Embroidery thread tassel thingies right under my boob XD I had fun tying Good Luck Knot upon Good Luck Knot for the middle one.

Ankle onions! Well, what would you call them? They’re four little pillows of the same black satin as the bodice stitched onto a bit of black elastic so I can reuse the stockings. Hee, I’m so glad they make black elastic. I was going to Sharpie white elastic XD

And finally, the sleeves. I made them in 2 pieces so I can remove the glove bit for hand-washing without having to undo the tape I’m going to need to keep the sleeve up on my arm. The hand bit has snaps that attach it to the wrist bit (in the middle).

Whew.
...Aaaaand now I can frantically build up craft fair inventory for a few weeks, then on to Seiten Taisei cosplay!
