For those of you following the attack of the inanimate objects that I suffered a few weeks ago, the mattress for the new futon sofa showed up today. (Hurrah!) It looks like the mattress for the loveseat showed up too, but as far as I knew that one hadn't shipped out yet?!? And I can't check on it unless I drag the old Toshiba back out again, because I left the tracking number on the other computer. Which I, of course, put away just this morning. (Dumb, dumb, dumb!) On the other hand, it was a big hit on my desk space to have two computers on it at the same time. And I don't have a lot of desk space to begin with. The plan is to add another shelf to the area where the monitor used to be so that I can hide the wires under it & put stuff on top of it. That'll help a lot. For now, though, I just couldn't deal with two laptops. Guess I'll have to set up the other one in the dining room or on the ironing board or something. Le sigh! However, the new couches won't be set up anyway until the mattress covers show up & they're not due here until Friday. But with a little luck we'll have them in time for Christmas.
BTW, I am totally loving my new Dell Inspiron 1525. I had spent $50 on a port hub, which I hooked up with the Toshiba. So when I went to set up the Dell, all I did was plug in the power, plug in the USB cable from the port hub, and plug in the audio cables, and everything was up and running in under 10 minutes. Cordless keyboard & mouse, printer, stereo connections, headphones, it was all there. Oh, and I have a built in webcam. Which so far has only proven how truly nasty my visage must look from the viewpoint of a computer. Oh, well, I've always enjoyed being on the other end of the camera the best.
I am looking forward to: getting my hair done tomorrow (always a treat), making Christmas cookies with my mother & my daughter on Thursday, and attending my friend Monsieur Philippe's Winter Solstice Party on Saturday. The party will be like a Victorian dinner party. There's a "pre-party party" for everyone to get dressed in the afternoon. It's going to be quite the affair, and I'll be wearing my best dress. For any of you that don't know, that's the green velvet Elizabethan that was made to set off the Wyvern underskirt. I wore it to 12th Night last year, and it's the one in my standard icon. I don't get to wear it very often, so this will be fun. Axel will be skipping the dressing party, and will probably not stay for too long after the dinner, either. Philippe is REALLY gay. And Axel is so very, very straight.
Hope all your Holiday are cheery and bright!
