A Willingness to Commit National Suicide, Ctd.

Jul 07, 2011 13:03

Jim DeMint (R-SC), toady: "So now we're at the point where there would have to be some serious disruptions in order not to raise it. I'm willing to do that."

Remember, folks, decline is a choice. And Jim DeMint (R-SC) has made his choice.

Let's just be clear: what the Republicans are allowing to take place is, at worst, the strangulation murder of the US economy by socialists-- many of whom are Republicans, of course.

At best, they may be allowing the US socialist movement to commit suicide, but I'm afraid that's too much to hope for.

Ah, that old chestnut. A stupid argument, in that Republican have voted for all the other debt limit increases. But I'm not surprised that gets trotted out. Hopefully, you haven't fallen to this sort of manipulation.

However, to be fair, Jim DeMint has been consistent in his voting to not increase the debt limit and for that I respect his statement.

When you write posts like this, I have to wonder if you aren't just engaging in some rather elaborate piece of online Performance Art...

No, really, I'm quite serious. The economic agenda of socialism in the United States has always been to confiscate and redistribute almost all of the surplus each year, leaving only enough to allow for a few percentage points of economic growth ( ... )

Don't worry, President Obama has let the Republicans know he is perfectly willing to throw senior citizens, and people who hope to live that long, under the bus, as long as the Republicans will raise the debt ceiling this time.

Oh, and remember, you'll be voting Republican in the next presidential election, unless you throw your vote away on principle.

I'm about to go cash some US EE Savings Bonds, because I truly believe that they'll soon be worth nothing but the paper they're printed on.

The Teabaggers in Congress all are apparently adherents to American Exceptionalism, and believe that nothing will happen when the debt ceiling isn't raised.

Meanwhile: (A) Standard & Poors and Moodys have both warned that they'll be dropping the rating on US Treasury Bonds; (B) The securities markets around the world are going nuts; (C) People have been flying from the US Dollar to gold in such numbers that silver is now becoming an attractive commodity for wealth preservation.

But, really, let's put it down sharply. Elf, didn't you make some posts, here on LJ, back in 2009, quoting several people calling on all Republicans to do everything possible to wreck the country, soley so that Obama doesn't get reelected? So, isn't this really all about trying to make sure that a n****r never again gets into the White House? Didn't the conservatives all but declare this as their intentions a few ( ... )

Of course they did. And Mitch McConnell said as much last week. His duty is to make sure Barack Obama doesn't get re-elected. To Hell with everything else. America will survive whatever happens, but Barack Obama cannot be allowed a second term.
