Apartment hunting and interviewing

Right, so the big news is that we are going to move to Raleigh, hopefully in about a month or so. I've got an interview tomorrow morning with the Teller Manager of the branch I'm hoping to transfer to. With any luck that will go well, and I'll know soon whether or not giving notice next week will be a good move. I'm really afraid to give notice ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about the apartments in Raleigh. It took me a while to finally face the fact that Raleigh is a much bigger city than Greenville and has higher cost of living. So, you won't find an apartment with Greenville type prices in Raleigh without also hearing about shootings in the area.

We ended up going to Abberly Place in Garner. It was a bit pricier ($800/mo for a very large one bedroom, they have smaller ones for cheaper), but we were able to afford it with me being a first year teacher and Paul going to school, and still managed to save every month. We just had to budget well. Also, Abberly Place had so many amenities, we didn't spend much money on entertainment (two pools, two fitness centers, pool table, foosball table, area to lounge in with fire place and kurig coffee machine).

Anyway, I'm not trying to sell you on the place or anything, just letting you know about an apartment that I really liked and currently miss.

You probably already use the site, but I found apartmentratings.com very helpful.

Another suggestion, if you aren't already doing it, is check craigslist. You can get some good deals from ppl trying to find a subleaser. Then, not only do you get a good deal, but also if the place sucks, you aren't stuck there for an entire year.

Good luck on the job and apartment hunting!
