The winners for the Being Lukewarm in Your Faith contest...
3rd place- the ordained minister who comes to Camp, says all this stuff about getting the Spirit moving here, getting more people to come to chapel, starting a gospel choir, having Bible study every night, changing peoples lives, saving souls!!....but then goes to the chapel service immediately afterward, staring boredly into space during the worship time, not even bothering to sing. Way to inspire confidence, guy.
2nd place- the three NCO's who corner the Chaplain Assistant, nag and complain and harass him for half an hour because there haven't been enough Chaplain Team visits to their FOB, they're being ignored, they're so disappointed in the religious service, might as well not even have a Chaplain, etc....but then don't come to the chapel service THAT NIGHT, even after being specifically invited by said Assistant. Why? "It's thursday, not sunday. Chapel services should be on sunday." It's the FIELD! We do services when we're AVAILABLE!
And finally, the grand prize goes to...
1st place- that very same Chaplain Assistant, who, when given a whole week out in the field with no responsibilities, no distractions, just plenty of time to catch up on Bible reading and spend time with his God...wastes the entire week watching movies and reading adventure novels.
Note to self: stop being lukewarm! Either hot or cold. (preferably hot...we're gonna go with hot on this one)
I hate it when I realize I've been slacking off in my faith. I hate it even more when I start to apologize and get lectured. I know I deserve it. I just wish I didn't. So, I'll be fasting during my escort duty tomorrow. Punishment? Nah...just a physical reminder to get my head in the game.
