Hey all. I just wanted to let you know I'm doing well, and the Army is going great for me. Yes, I'm home and in the Reserves, but I'm still on duty every day. Last weekend, I had my first drill weekend at my unit in Southfield. It went well. I found out they went from no Chaplain Assistants to suddenly three, so it's up to us to rebuild their Chaplain's section from the ground up. Not a problem. I'm excited to be a part of it. Apart from that, the Master Sergeant in charge of our section is also the leader of the Military Funeral Honors Program for the Michigan Reserves, so he's always looking for new volunteers. I of course did, so in the last week I've performed military honors at seven funerals. It looks like I'll have a funeral or more a day until classes start, and even then, whenever I have a day off of school. Between base pay and travel pay, it pays really well, and it's a great honor to perform this service as one final thank-you to our deceased veterans. Most of them, about 98%, are WWII and Vietnam vets, so don't worry, it's not the guys in Iraq. Not only the money and honor, but the MSG is a great man, a 55 year old born-again Christian who loves talking about the Lord. We have great conversations, and he's told me at least half a dozen times in the last week how I've blessed his heart, and how thankful he is that I'm part of his program. That's an awesome thing to hear from a senior NCO.
Other than that, I'm in West Side Story, which is going well for the start, and classes will hopefully start for me at the end of January, as well as ROTC. I love you all.
