Surprise Phone Call
So yesterday I was just beginning my day when my cell phone rang. One of my students asked me what the sound was and I told him that it was my cell phone. I checked the number and I didn't recognize it, so let it ring figuring that whoever was calling would leave a message. Sure enough, about 2 minutes later my phone beeped to tell me that I had a message. I was intrigued by this and asked Rick if he minded me leaving to check my message. He said it was fine, and this is what the message said. Hi, Sara this is Mary from Quick Cooking. I have some news about a recipe you submitted to our magazine. Please call me back at your earliest convenience. I did, and it turns out I won second place and $300.00 for the chicken wing recipe I submitted all the way back in October. I couldn't believe it, I had completely forgotten that I had even entered. My recipe will be featured in the May/June issue of Quick Cooking, and for those of you attending my Superbowl Party on Sunday, I will be making my now award winning wings!
