Another beginning

Face it: livejournal (for me, at least) is an excuse to waste time when I should be doing important stuff like: finishing my new resume, looking for work, finding my way around a new city, buying milk, etc. I've moved to Chicago, currently living with some cousins in the "near-west" suburbs while I accomplish the above and wait for Shayna to move back out here so I can crash on her futon. This is one of those times when even though I know I'm an adult, I have to keep acting like it. I watched three hours of TV last night, but after a pretty good day of wandering around to gain bearings, working on resume, emailing some key people, and generally getting myself settled in. I have quite a long to-do list, but of course I'm having trouble staying focused on it. I like going to a job because there's structure there. I can have trouble supplying my own. Something else to work on.

In other news, I've had a pretty awesome summer. Working at Lake George Opera I got to bond with people from school and make a bunch of new friends, too. That was capped off by a pretty sweet camping trip with people from work, where a 12 mile hike turned out to be a great experience. From there I went camping with my parents for two weeks all over Maine, PEI, and the Gaspe peninsula before heading back south. Then I spent a week with a friend, first in Connecticut, then at Martha's Vineyard. MV was awesome as ever, and getting to stay for several days was that much better. From there I went to my brother-in-law's reception (missed the wedding because I was six hours away) before coming back home for a week. After attempting to get my things in order, I kinda gave up and just packed to go to Chicago. Which is where I am now, killing time by updating LJ. So there.

I guess it's getting on toward lunch. I should figure out what I'm doing for that.
