Boldly Going

I know, I've been horrible about updating lately...

Well, okay, so I'm not the most regular of chroniclers anyway. But it IS a time of Great Change and all, and isn't that when I'm supposed to shout from the blogtops?

Almost done with retail...just have to work 5 to close this coming friday and saturday, and then I'll be dropping down to 'contingent' staff at Borders, which means you only have to work once per quarter to stay on the books. I'll probably go back and work a bit over holiday break, too, if it doesn't interfere with a Scaper gathering.

And school...begins tomorrow morning. My first two classes...Brit Lit at 10:40am, and then Contemporary World Poetry right after. I'm a little nervous I'll admit, but only a little. And excited.

I also had my campus orientation saturday morning, which was actually extremely cool. Hadn't realized all the resources the campus offers me. There's a full gym and pool, free to all students. There's wireless internet all over and a bunch of computer labs, including some that are open 24/7. There's a media center which allows students to *borrow* digital cameras and video cameras! And I get two free tickets to any play, speaker, or event on campus with my ID. Plus, the (cute) girl leading the campus tour was a theater major (I'm a theater minor), so I was able to ask the possibility of getting my own plays put on there...turns out they'll help me produce it myself. Hook up with a student director, find funding, cast it, etc, and put it on at the college. My play 'Vicarious' is designed to be a minimalist show anyway, so that should work out beautifully. I plan on helping out in the theater department as much as I can this semester, getting to know folks, and then see about getting my own production rolling in the spring (!).

So yeah...tomorrow it all really starts.

play, school
