Well, today was a bit of an adventure.
I had a meeting at 2 o'clock at Hiram College about my application for their Weekend College program, which would let me finish off my degree.
So I get my directions from mapquest...go over them with my mom, who's made the drive before (I actually went to Hiram for exactly one week, a little over 5 years ago...long story :?P). She pointed out a couple of tricky areas where the highway diverts in 2 different directions.
Annnnd...I completely managed to miss the second one. 'Cause Mapquest totally doesn't even acknowledge it. And I ended up waaaaaaaaaaaaaay the frak and gone.
Call the school--at about 2:10--and explain where I am. Get some advice, figure out where I am and where I'm going on my map...
And I finally roll into Hiram at 4pm. :?P
Thank goodness, the people at that school are incredibly cool. The lady I was meeting with actually apologized to *me* several times because I got lost.
And the meeting itself? Went great. I dunno if this is typical for their Weekend College applicants or because they really liked my transcript, but it turned out it really wasn't an interview. It was 'here's how it'd work, here's how all your credits transfer, you can start as early as spring if you want, or summer or fall...' The lady has even already sent an email to a couple of their profs (writing & theater) letting them know a little about my interest in playwriting, so that I can contact them about opportunities for my work.
So yeah, starting there...possibly summer, more likely fall (I got me some Scapers to visit this summer!)...is definitely a good possibility. (Also looking at one or two other weekend college programs at other schools, and need to work out my financial aid, of course. :?P)
Have to say, too...while the navigational misadventure was a pain, yeah, and made for a looooooooooooong tiring day...in a weird way it was kinda fun, too. Actually being able to figure out the map (once I'd gotten myself out into Timbuktu :?P) made me feel kinda accomplished in the end. :?P
So I'm weird, okay?
