More grey hair

My husband called me when I was at work today. He NEVER calls me. Ever. Unless there's an emergency. I know he's the weak link where the dogs are concerned. With the breed we have, vigilance is forever required. Letting our guard down means we could lose our dogs and another dog could be injured. Well, he let two out in the driveway while he was using buckets to fill the horse trough(frigid weather has frozen the hose). There's a lady who runs by the house every day, without fail. She always has her Springer with her, Bentley barks like a mad man in the house anytime she goes by. Today he jumped the fence along with Lena whose never jumped anything since we've had her. I think breaking her leg as a very small pup has stopped her from ever trying. Today changed all that. Hub grabbed Bentley but Lena chased the dog about 1/8th of a mile before turning around and going home. Thankfully they will leave it at our paying their vet bills and foregoing reporting it to the police. Tomorrow Hubs will go to Lowes and get fencing material so we can safely confine them to the back yard. I would have said something to him if he hadn't been stressed to the max and on the verge of tears when he called me. He was scared shitless they would report it and we would have to euthanize our dogs. I won't let them outside if I can't keep a very close eye on them. If they even look like they are going to bark they go back in the house... What can I do? He doesn't have a lot of common sense and he REALLY doesn't understand dog behavior, even after 22 years of having them. It's frustrating. He thinks I'm too aggressive, too controlling, I freak out too much. THIS is exactly why I micromanage them. BAH!
