After an enjoyable party on Friday night I woke up the next morning in an extremely good mood, which was only slightly dampened by the volume and pitch of Abba coming from the shower through several walls and over the top of my own music at the other end of the house. Watching
Capote in the evening was enough to bring me down again though. I thought it was an extremely well done movie, but a pretty darn depressing story all round.
Thankfully after this I had occasion to lift my spirits again by trying a clone of Dance Dance Revolution which involves "following" the steps that come up on a screen using a stupid looking dance pad. Somewhat to my surprise it turned out to be pretty fun. I may even get such a thing for myself - it wouldn't hurt to have a game to play that doesn't involve using my hands.
On Sunday we played my new purchase
Goldbrau, which is a boardgame in which the players compete to make the most money from a beer festival by buying shares in the different pubs and breweries etc. We've only played one game which took a little bit of learning, but it seems like it'll be pretty fun. More on that another time.
During our usual boardgames evening the cheeses were an apricot and almond fruit cheese, as well as some double brie. The apricot and almond was probably a bit sweet and fatty for my tastes, but it was still pretty good on some nice crackers. As a dessert cheese and/or as part of a selection of cheeses it's not a bad option though. I've been wondering exactly what's different about "double brie" as opposed to brie for a while, and it turns out that it's creamier. Quite the cheese.
